'Unaware Of...': Row Erupts After Rahul Gandhi Pays Tributes To Indira With Shoes On

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi once again came under the fire for allegedly disrespecting Indian culture by not taking off shoes while paying floral tributes to former Prime Minister and his late grandmother Indira Gandhi.

Madhya Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief and Khajuraho MP VD Sharma on Tuesday attacked Rahul Gandhi for showing disrespect to her by also “throwing" flower petals at the photo frame of the Indira Gandhi. Criticising the Congress leader, the BJP leader said the type of sentiments he has for his ancestors reflects his “thinking and values."

The Khajuraho MP added that the Rae Bareli MP “is unaware of Indian culture."

In the video, Rahul Gandhi was seen paying floral tributes to the ex-PM with folded hands. Rahul Gandhi was seen wearing shoes all along. He was accompanied by a group of people while he paid tribute to the ex-PM’s photo frame that was placed outside a structure that had posters of several Congress leaders.

Sharing a clip that captured the moment when the LoP paid tribute to Indira Gandhi, Sharma tweeted, “The way Rahul Gandhi paid homage to his grandmother Indira Gandhi by wearing shoes and throwing flowers clearly reflects his thinking and values (sic)."

Questioning his values, Sharma even targeted the Congress of “dreaming of making such a person the Prime Minister."

“Congress is dreaming of making such a person the Prime Minister who has no respect for his ancestors and is  unaware of Indian culture (sic)," he further wrote in Hindi.
