VARANASI: The Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS), Banaras Hindu University, organised a two-day workshop on ventilator use on August 16 and 17.Organising secretary Dr Amrita Rath said that around 100 delegates and 30 faculty members from various medical institutions took part.
She stressed that ventilators are vital for treating critically ill patients and should be available in all hospitals, with specialised doctors required for their management.The workshop aimed to bridge the knowledge gap between experts and delegates. It focused on initial ventilator settings, patient care while on a ventilator, and adjustments needed to improve patient outcomes. Training was also given on safely weaning patients off ventilators after recovery.Key participants included Prof P.K. Das, Dr Samiksha, Prof Ghanshyam, Dr Sulakshana, Prof Bikram, Prof Sandeep and Dr Krishan Kant. Dr Rath added that IMS remains committed to holding such workshops regularly to ensure better access to advanced patient care.
