NOIDA/GHAZIABAD: The Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) chairman, Ashish Kumar Goel, has asked officials to ensure there are no power interruptions in Noida and Ghaziabad, especially during Diwali.Expressing concern over frequent complaints of power cuts from cities including Noida, Ghaziabad, Lucknow and Kanpur, Goel warned that failure to resolve the issue would invite strict action, including possible suspension of erring officials.At a review meeting held at Shakti Bhawan in Lucknow, Goel emphasised the need for immediate remedial measures and instructed staff to ensure all safety equipment was in place.
When informed that shutdowns were being taken only to address faults, Goel set an Oct 31 deadline for addressing all complaints related to power cuts in Noida and Ghaziabad.Further, emphasising electrical safety during the festive season, he directed that all employees be equipped with proper safety gear to prevent accidents.Meanwhile, the power departments of Noida and Ghaziabad have deployed field teams to ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply during the Diwali festivities.
Teams led by junior engineers (JEs) and sub-divisional officers (SDOs) will remain on duty round the clock from Dhanteras to Bhai Dooj, with special focus on the evening hours between 6 pm and midnight when power demand peaks.Officials said no shutdowns will be permitted during the festive period, and consumers can report complaints on the 24x7 helpline 0120-2970431.SDOs have been instructed to send hourly updates on the power situation to senior officials to enable real-time monitoring.
