US Central Command says American forces shot down two Iranian one-way attack drones threatening commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, and remain on high alert

The United States military has intercepted and destroyed two Iranian one-way attack drones that posed a threat to international maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, according to a statement released by U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).

In a post shared on social media on Sunday, CENTCOM said American forces operating in the Middle East successfully shot down the drones after they were assessed to be threatening commercial and international shipping routes in the strategically vital waterway.

“Earlier today, U.S. forces in the Middle East shot down two Iranian one-way attack drones that threatened international maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz," CENTCOM said in its statement.

The military command added that U.S. forces remain on high alert and are prepared to respond to further threats in the region.

“American forces remain postured and ready to continue defending against Iranian aggression," the statement said.
