 Winterline Carnival in Mussoorie celebrates hill cuisine and culture

NEW DELHI: The Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board, in association with the District Administration, is organising the Uttarakhand Food Festival 2025 as a major attraction of the Winterline Carnival currently underway in Mussoorie.The Winterline Carnival began on Wednesday and will continue till Monday. The event celebrates Mussoorie’s rare winterline phenomenon along with the cultural vibrancy of the region. As part of the carnival, the Uttarakhand Food Festival is being held from Friday to Sunday.The festival features a wide range of food stalls serving authentic Uttarakhand cuisine, giving tourists and locals a chance to explore traditional flavours passed down through generations.

Along with food, visitors can enjoy local folk dance performances, live band music, and interactive cultural experiences that showcase the essence of the state.Sharing his experience, local food stall participant Sandeep Gupta said, “This platform gives us an opportunity to present the real taste of Uttarakhand to tourists. Many visitors taste these dishes for the first time, and it helps them understand our culture through food.”

A key highlight of the festival is the presence of Celebrity Food Explorer and founder of Delhi Food Walks, Anubhav Sapra, along with renowned Chef Smriti Hari. They are leading culinary demonstrations, discussions, and food storytelling sessions. Expressing his enthusiasm, Anubhav Sapra said, “I am extremely excited to be part of the Uttarakhand Food Festival. The state has an incredible food heritage that deserves greater recognition, and events like this help bring local flavors and food stories to the forefront.

The festival is also hosting a Food Bloggers’ Meet, bringing together food writers, bloggers, and digital creators to promote Uttarakhand’s culinary identity on national and international platforms.Noting the vision behind the initiative, Sandeep Sahani, President, Hotel Association, said, “The Winterline Carnival and Uttarakhand Food Festival were started in 2013 with the objective of reviving the tourism economy of the state affected due to disaster happened in the state. Over the years, it has grown into an annual celebration eagerly awaited by tourists and locals alike, significantly contributing to tourism, hospitality, and local livelihoods.

The Uttarakhand Food Festival 2025 continues to blend tradition, taste, and tourism, strengthening the region’s position as a cultural and culinary destination during the winter season.
