Uttarakhand weather alert: Red and orange warnings issued across the state

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded multiple alerts as heavy monsoon showers continue across North India. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand is also facing severe weather conditions, with several districts affected by heavy rainfall and cloudbursts.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami confirmed that red and orange alerts have been issued across the state to ensure public safety.“At this time, red and orange alerts have been issued across the entire state. Every district in Uttarakhand has been affected by the disaster. There is calamity at Dharali, and in Rudraprayag several places have been hit. In Uttarkashi, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Udham Singh Nagar and Haridwar, many areas are waterlogged.

A cloudburst has also occurred in Dehri’s Ghansali region,” CM Dhami told reporters.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the steps being taken to support affected residents. Relief camps are being stocked with essential supplies including food, medicines, clothing, and milk for children. “The government is closely monitoring the situation and encouraging agencies to work with full preparedness,” he added.

He emphasised the importance of district administrations, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and all departments remaining on high alert.

The Chief Minister also confirmed that the Nanak Sagar Dam is being closely monitored, currently flowing five feet below the danger level.

During a high-level meeting with senior officials, CM Dhami instructed district officers to remain vigilant around the clock. He stressed ensuring citizen safety, monitoring landslide-prone routes, and taking proactive measures to prevent waterlogging in the plains.
