MDMK general secretary Vaiko will undertake a Samathuva Nadai Payanam (padayatra) from January 2, 2026, to highlight brotherhood among communities and create awareness against drug use and alcohol consumption. He said he would start the programme from Tiruchi and conclude it in Madurai, covering 175 km.
“I will walk through the service land and cross places such as Manapparai, Kodai Road, and Vadipatti, meeting people. A total of 100 party volunteers, 100 youth wing members, and 100 student unit members in party uniform will accompany me on the walk,” he told The Hindu on Saturday.
Mr. Vaiko said he would also campaign against confrontations and killings committed in the name of upholding caste pride. “Drug use and alcohol consumption are two major issues bothering society. I will create awareness among the people about the dangers of drug and alcohol consumption,” he said.
Mr. Vaiko added that he would also highlight the achievement of the “Dravidian Model” government led by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
