Valve is back with another bold move in the gaming hardware world: the Steam Machine. Officially revealed in November 2025, this sleek new console bridges the gap between PC power and console simplicity.
Designed for gamers who want the performance of a gaming rig without the hassle of building one, the Steam Machine brings your entire Steam library right to your living room. But Valve isn’t just revisiting the idea of a console; it’s reinventing it. With next-gen specs, a customizable design, and deep integration with SteamOS, the Steam Machine aims to deliver true 4K gaming on your TV while staying compact, quiet, and powerful.
Here are all the details about it.
While Valve hasn’t locked in exact prices yet, two models are confirmed: 512GB and 2TB variants. Expect pricing to reflect a mid-range gaming PC, depending on whether you bundle it with the new Steam Controller. Given its specs and target market, analysts predict a launch price between $699–$999 USD, making it a premium yet accessible entry into high-end living room gaming.Like the Steam Deck, Valve will sell the Steam Machine directly through the Steam Store and regional partners like Komodo.
Global rollout is expected in early 2026.
Valve Steam Machine specs and performance
Valve’s focus here is clear: deliver true 4K 60FPS gaming in a small form factor. Here’s what’s inside:
- CPU: AMD Zen 4 (6 cores / 12 threads, up to 4.8GHz)
- GPU: Custom AMD RDNA 3 (28 compute units, 8GB GDDR6 VRAM)
- RAM: 16GB DDR5 (upgradeable)
- Storage: NVMe SSD (512GB or 2TB), expandable via slot or microSD
- Performance: 4K 60FPS gaming with FSR upscaling and ray tracing
- Connectivity: HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort 1.4, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth, and multiple USB ports
That’s roughly 6x more power than the Steam Deck, making it capable of running demanding titles like Cyberpunk 2077 or Starfield smoother than even current-gen consoles. It runs SteamOS, supports third-party apps, and plays nice with almost any controller, keyboard, or peripheral.
Of course, the new Steam Controller integrates perfectly, even letting you power on the console or your TV.
Valve Steam Machine supported games
The Steam Machine runs SteamOS, which means it supports your entire Steam library out of the box. Thanks to Proton compatibility, even most Windows games work seamlessly. Whether it’s Baldur’s Gate 3, Counter-Strike 2, or Elden Ring, expect PC-level fidelity on your TV.You can also install other OSs or launchers if you want, like Epic Games Store, GOG Galaxy, even emulators. It’s still a PC at heart, just in console form.
