Vande Bharat Express placed on platform 1 for governor; Officials claim operational reasons behind platform change

Jamshedpur: The Tatanagar railway officials placed the Howrah-bound Vande Bharat Express on platform number 1 on Wednesday, supposedly to help West Bengal governor C V Ananda Bose board the train conveniently.

The governor arrived at the station from Rairangpur, Odisha, to board the Ranchi-Howrah Vande Bharat Express to travel to Kolkata in the morning. The express train, which generally arrives on platforms 4 and 5, was placed on platform 1 as the governor was waiting for the train at the same platform. The railway officials, meanwhile, denied that the platform was changed for the convenience of the governor.“As per railway rules, a change in the platform for the placement of the train can be done on account of operational reasons,” said station director, Sunil Kumar.Without specifying the operational needs that determined the change in the platform for the placement of the train, the director said that standard operating measures were followed while changing the placement of the train.
