A 41-year-old Indian man has been arrested in Bangkok for pointing a pistol-shaped lighter at people at Siam Square. The man, identified as Sahil Ram Thadani, reportedly created chaos when he began shouting and behaving aggressively near the Novotel hotel around 4 pm on Monday.

Videos of the incident going viral on social media show him dancing in the middle of the road and verbally abusing passersby. Viral clips show Thadani waving the gun-shaped object at people walking by, leaving many frightened in one of Bangkok’s busiest shopping areas. In the latter part of the clip, he can be seen sitting on the road as security personnel approach to restrain him.

Despite repeated requests to get up, he refuses and is eventually dragged away by guards. In the video, Thadani can be heard crying and asking for the police before apologising for his behaviour.

Following the incident, officers and security guards rushed to the scene. They tried to calm him down but their attempts failed as Thadani continued to behave erratically and even threatened the officers.

He was taken into custody at Pathum Wan Police Station, where authorities confirmed that the item he was holding was not a real weapon but a lighter designed to look like a pistol.

According to the police, Thadani has been charged with making threats and causing public disorder. Officials believe his unusual behaviour may have been triggered by hallucinations linked to cannabis use.

A police report also revealed that Thadani was previously the director of three companies in India, all of which have now ceased operations. Authorities are investigating how long he had been in Thailand and whether he has been involved in any previous disturbances or offences.
