Vigilance panel formed for shrimp units in Konaseema

A five-member district committee has been constituted to oversee various operations including engagement of minors, registration with Marine Products Exports Development Authority (MPEDA) and treatment of wastewater in Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema district. 

Presided over by the District Collector R. Mahesh Kumar, the committee on Tuesday met to discuss the action plan to ensure transparency in the operations of the shrimp processing units.

The committee comprises of representatives from the MPEDA, Department of Labour, AP Pollution Control Board, Inspector of Factories and District Fisheries Officer. However, shrimp exports will be allowed without registering with the MPEDA.
