Vijay, TVK founder, switched private jets for his Tamil Nadu election campaign, using VT-PCR Gulfstream and VT-RFX aircraft, with rental costs reaching several lakhs per trip

Actor-turned-politician Vijay, who has stepped up preparations for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, has drawn fresh attention not just for his political messaging but also for his mode of travel during the campaign. (News18 Tamil)

Vijay, who recently completed shooting for Jananayakan directed by H Vinoth, has been touring several districts after launching his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). During his campaign visits to Trichy, Ariyalur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Namakkal and Karur, he opted for small private jets to fly out of Chennai, sources said. The actor had similarly used a private aircraft earlier this year while travelling to Kodaikanal on May 1 for the film's shoot. (News18 Tamil)

What has surprised many is the switch in aircraft during different phases of the tour. While a brown-and-white private jet was used during his first leg to Trichy in early December, Vijay was later seen flying in a blue-and-white jet during visits to Thiruvarur and Namakkal. He also used a similar small private plane to reach Erode for his latest public engagement. (News18 Tamil)

According to aviation industry estimates, the daily rental for such light private jets can run into several lakh rupees, depending on flying hours, route and additional services, adding a new layer of discussion around the scale of Vijay’s political mobilisation. (News18 Tamil)

Meanwhile, addressing a public meeting in Erode on Wednesday, Vijay launched a sharp attack on the ruling DMK, calling it an "evil force" and pitching his fledgling party as a "pure force", setting the tone for the 2026 elections. "Late leaders M G Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa often described the DMK as an evil force. Today, the contest is between the pure force TVK and the evil force DMK," Vijay said, asserting that the upcoming Assembly polls would effectively be a straight fight between the two. (News18 Tamil)

This marked his first public event in Tamil Nadu after the September 27 rally in Karur, where a stampede claimed 41 lives. Following that incident, Vijay had restricted himself to a closed-door meeting in Kancheepuram and a rally in Puducherry. (News18 Tamil)

Hitting out at what he called a smear campaign against him, Vijay said leaders like C N Annadurai and MGR were inspirations for everyone and not the private legacy of any one party. He also criticised the DMK government on issues such as law and order and agriculture. The TVK founder added that more leaders would soon join his party, following the recent induction of former AIADMK leader K A Sengottaiyan, and assured them of due recognition within the organisation.
