VIZIANAGARAM:

Vizianagaram Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy on Thursday said that the district is expected to witness rapid industrial growth in near future as investors are showing renewed interest in the district thanks to the availability of extensive land bank, manpower and natural resources.

He hoped that the investors participating in the CII Partnership Summit at Visakhapatnam recognise Vizianagaram’s strategic advantages and its proximity to the port city.

Speaking to The Hindu, on Thursday, the Collector said: “The North Andhra region has become an attractive destination with the availability of both government and vacant private lands that can be be acquired as per the existing laws and procedures.”

He further shared that, “We have nearly 3,000 acres in different parts of the district. The district administration has also identified other lands, suitable for software industries, agro-based industries and other sectors. The land available in and around Bhogapuram international airport offers road and air connectivity, enhancing the district’s appeal to potential investors. ”

Mr. Ramsundar shared that the government would try to create more jobs and livelihood opportunities in the agriculture sector too. “We are trying to promote horticulture crops in a big way since it offers better income source for farmers and others. As a first step, the government will encourage farmers to grow commercial crops in the Rabi season, as many fields remain fallow after the Kharif season,” he said.

He assured that the government would ensure proper marketing facilities for agriculture products including vegetables, leafy greens, fruits and others.
