NEW DELHI: Tensions flared during Rahul Gandhi’s “Vote Adhikar Yatra” in Bihar when a man rushed toward him in an apparent attempt to hug the Congress leader mid-bike ride. A quick response from security ended with the man being slapped, triggering brief chaos in the crowd. The incident took place in Araria as Gandhi and RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav led a convoy of motorcycles through the district.

While the leaders wore helmets, many supporters on two-wheelers flouted traffic rules by riding without helmets and the security lapse raised eyebrows online. “How can he get that close to RG?” one user asked. Launched on August 17, the 1,300-km yatra will pass through over 20 districts before wrapping up with a Patna rally on September 1.
