VTU announces results of final semester engineering examinations in record time of one hour

The Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Belagavi has announced the results of the final semester engineering examinations in a record time of one hour on Friday.

The practical examinations for final-year courses were concluded around 5.30 p.m. and the results were announced by 6.30 p.m. on the same day. The results were sent to students via SMS.

Sharing the details with The Hindu, S. Vidyashankar, Vice-Chancellor of VTU, said: “The theory exams were concluded on May 26 and the practicals commenced on May 27. As soon as the exams were completed, we resumed the evaluation of the theory exam papers and kept the marks ready on the portal. On Friday, when the practical exams got over around 5.30 p.m., the marks were entered on the same portal and the results were declared.”

Earlier, students used to blame VTU for being irregular in the announcement of results. But for the last three years, the announcement of results has been streamlined. “It was my target to announce results on May 30 every year and maintained it for the last three years. The first two years, we were able to declare results within two to three hours. This time, we have created a record by announcing it in an hour,” explained the Vice-Chancellor.

There were over 50,000 students in the final year and they were all admitted during the 2020-21 academic year. They will receive their degrees in the convocation scheduled on July 4.

These results are excluding autonomous colleges as VTU will not conduct exams for them.
