Hussain Ahmed Majumdar’s family were left in anguish after he went missing following a shocking mid-air assault aboard IndiGo Flight 6E 138 from Mumbai to Kolkata.

Hussain, a resident of Lathigaon village in Kathigorah, Cachar district, Assam, was returning home on August 1 when he was allegedly slapped mid-air by a co-passenger. He was reportedly experiencing a panic attack when the incident occurred.

According to video footage circulating on social media, Hussain appeared to suffer a panic attack while walking through the aisle. Flight attendants tried to calm him, but an unidentified passenger seated nearby allegedly slapped him forcefully in full view of others. The act was immediately condemned by both passengers and crew members.

Meanwhile, back home in Katthigorah in Cachar district of Assam, his wife, Sufiana Begum, told News18 how the family got worried after not finding Hussain at the airport when they went to receive him.

“The last call he made was from the airport. He told me that security checks were done and asked me to come receive him at Kumbhirgram Airport. The flight landed at 1:45 PM. Everyone came out, except him. He just vanished. We haven’t eaten or slept. I want justice. He is helpless, we are helpless. Please help us," expressed Sufiana Begum tearfully.

A missing complaint was filed, and police found he hadn’t taken the flight to Silchar or left Kolkata airport. He was later found at Barpeta railway station in Assam, appearing unwell.

Hussain is the sole breadwinner of his family, which includes a three-year-old child and his ailing father, Abdul Mannan Majumdar, currently battling cancer.

Earlier, IndiGo Airlines condemned the incident and said,"The assault on board Flight 6E 138 was completely unacceptable. The unruly passenger was handed over to security officials in Kolkata. Regulatory agencies have been informed as per SOP."

However, the airline has not clarified whether Hussain Majumdar received any medical attention, psychological support, or protective custody following the incident.
