The Israeli husband of the Russian woman who was found with her two daughters living in the Gokarna cave, has said that he wants to “be close to" the children; however, Nina Kutina “wouldn’t let me spend time with them".

Dror Goldstein, the Israeli businessman, claimed that he has been visiting India for the last four years to meet his daughters, but Nina “made it really hard".

Nina and her two daughters were found living in Karnataka’s Gokarna cave and were rescued by the police on July 9. They are currently in the detention centre in Bengaluru.

She earlier told the officials that an Israeli man was the father of her two kids – Prema, 6, and Ama, 5 – and one of the babies was born in a Goa cave, The Indian Express had reported.

Goldstein told NDTV that he first met Nina in Goa nearly eight years ago and fell in love with her. He said that the couple spent seven months together in India and more time in Ukraine.

He said that Nina left Goa “without informing me" a few months ago. “I didn’t know where they were," he said, adding that he had lodged a missing complaint and then found them living in Gokarna.

“I came there to see my daughters, to see how they are. She wouldn’t let me spend time with them, only a little bit; she made it really hard," he told the broadcaster.

“My wish is to be close to my two daughters. I demand shared custody. I want to be able to meet them, to be close to them, and to be a father. That’s all," he told news agency PTI.

He further claimed that he had been sending “a good amount of money" to Nina every month, and she has “everything they need".

He also spoke about the reports of their deportation and said that he would do everything possible to prevent the government from sending them back to Russia.

The Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) reportedly got in touch with the Israeli man after Nina told authorities about him being the father of the two girls. Their deportation to Russia would take nearly a month due to formalities.

However, Nina said that she delivered all her children herself “without hospitals or doctors".

“My children were all born in different places. I delivered all of them myself, without hospitals or doctors, because I know how to do it. No one helped me, I did it alone," PTI quoted her as saying.

According to a New York Times report, she came to India several years ago with her two sons and a daughter. Her eldest son passed away at 21, and the whereabouts of the other son are unknown.

According to officials, her business visa to India expired in 2017, but she overstayed since then.

“First, there were multiple personal losses – not just the death of my son, but also a few other close people. We were constantly dealing with grief, paperwork, and other problems," she told PTI.
