A huge King Cobra sighting in Bhauwala village of Dehradun, Uttarakhand, left locals scared after the snake was seen slithering along the wall of a house. As per a report by Hindustan Times, it was spotted coiled up near a house wall in the Jhajra range, after which locals quickly alerted the forest department. As news spread, many residents and onlookers gathered to see the scene for themselves.Forest team struggles as snake turns aggressiveIn the viral video, several rescuers are seen attempting to pull the cobra down from a tree next to the house.
The situation quickly turned tense as the King Cobra became defensive, raising its hood and striking out at the forest personnel during the rescue attempt.Sharing details of the operation, range officer Sonal Paneru told India Today, “As soon as we began the operation, the cobra turned defensive and attacked several times. As per media reports, even with limited resources and tough conditions, the team eventually managed to catch the snake and put it into a sack after a long struggle.
It was later released safely back into the forest. No one was hurt, but the incident left many villagers deeply shaken.Kerala officer handles 15-foot king cobra in separate caseIn another incident that happened in July, a King Cobra was spotted in a shallow stream in the Paruthipalli Range, a spot often used by locals for bathing. With public safety at risk, the Kerala Forest Department’s Rapid Response Team was called in.Out of the five members, Officer G. S. Roshni took the lead. Using a snake-catching tool, she carefully secured the highly venomous reptile and later released it safely into a forested area, far from human settlements.Snake rescues highlight need for quick action and expertiseBoth incidents highlight how crucial quick action and trained teams are in handling such cases.
