Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla emerged from the SpaceX Dragon capsule with a wide smile and waved to the camera, greeting mission crews and viewers after completing his historic 18-day stay aboard the International Space Station.

Shukla, India’s first astronaut to visit the ISS and only the second Indian ever in space, looked cheerful and composed as he stepped out following splashdown off the coast of Southern California.
