Soon after, flames were visible rising from the Fairmont property across the road. Guests stepped out, confused, trying to figure out whether it was an accident or something more serious. A place known for luxury holidays suddenly felt tense and uncertain.Around the same time, reports began surfacing about military operations involving the United States and Israel targeting Iran. And suddenly the incident didn’t feel isolated anymore.

The wider situation across the region started to weigh on people who had simply arrived for a break from everyday life.Despite the confusion, Rathee and his immediate family managed to leave Dubai on an early morning flight. At the airport, everything appeared normal. Check-in counters were open, passengers queued as usual, and flights were departing on schedule. A few hours into the flight, cabin crew informed passengers that a major military conflict had broken out. The airspace they had just crossed was now being treated as a restricted combat zone.
