Victor Wembanyama announced his return in style.

Back after a 12-game injury absence, the French phenom delivered a dazzling performance as the San Antonio Spurs stunned the Oklahoma City Thunder 111–109 on Saturday night to book their place in the NBA Cup final.

Wembanyama finished with 22 points and nine rebounds in just 21 minutes, posting a game-high plus-21 as the Spurs handed the Thunder only their second loss of the season.

The victory snapped Oklahoma City’s 16-game winning streak and sent San Antonio into Tuesday night’s final against the New York Knicks.

The pro-Spurs crowd erupted into “M-V-P" chants as Wembanyama checked in, and his impact was immediate.

Despite being on a minutes restriction after a strained left calf, he tilted the game every time he stepped on the floor.

Devin Vassell led San Antonio with 23 points, while De’Aaron Fox and rookie Stephon Castle added 22 apiece in a balanced Spurs attack.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander paced the Thunder with 29 points, with Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams contributing 17 each. Oklahoma City, now 24–2, suffered its second straight loss in Las Vegas — after falling in last year’s NBA Cup final as well.

The Spurs trailed at halftime but closed the second quarter on a 13-point run, then surged ahead with a 10-point burst in the third to set up a tense finish. They held their nerve late to seal one of the biggest wins of their season.

San Antonio had gone 9–3 during Wembanyama’s absence. With their franchise star back — and shining — they now stand one win away from lifting the NBA Cup.
