Stepping up his attack on the ruling Congress, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Tuesday accused the party of “vote chori" (vote theft) in Telangana ahead of the November 11 Jubilee Hills by-election.
“I want to tell Rahul Gandhi, you toured Bihar with the Constitution in your hand, shouting slogans of ‘Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod’ against the BJP. But here in Telangana, your own government is doing the same thing," KTR said, addressing a gathering in Rahmathnagar.
“We estimate nearly 23,000 suspicious votes. Some may be genuine, but many appear fake. It seems the Congress has colluded with booth-level officers. The Election Commission must act, and Rahul Gandhi must answer how his party’s actions are any different from what he accuses the BJP of doing in Bihar," he added.

A day earlier, KTR had alleged large-scale voter irregularities in Jubilee Hills, claiming that 43 voter names were registered at a single address.
“They know they don’t have the people’s support. That’s why they are creating fake votes. In total, there are thousands of such entries," he said.
The BRS leader also accused the Congress of “betraying" Muslim and Backwards Class (BC) communities with “false promises".
He pointed out that the government had promised 42 per cent reservation for BCs in local body elections, but failed to deliver after the Telangana High Court stayed its ordinance granting 43 per cent quota last week.
Following the court’s stay, the State Election Commission suspended the local body election notification, and the matter is now pending before the court.
KTR’s remarks come at a time when the Congress faces mounting criticism over alleged discrepancies in voter rolls, a charge it has frequently levelled against the BJP elsewhere.
