When Arjun Rampal addressed comparisons with Hrithik Roshan over playing a blind role in ‘Aankhen 2’

The bar was set high when Hrithik Roshan impressed audiences with his powerful portrayal of a visually impaired man in Kaabil (2017), a performance many critics hailed as one of his finest. Around the same time, reports emerged that Arjun Rampal would also be playing a blind character in Aankhen 2, making comparisons inevitable.

However, Arjun was quick to dismiss them.

‘I am not competing with anyone,’ says Arjun Rampal

According to Bollywood Bubble, addressing the chatter in an interview, Arjun made it clear that he was not trying to match Hrithik Roshan’s performance or compete with him in any way. Instead, his focus was on personal growth and elevating his craft. He said, “‘Aankhen’ is always a special film in my career and people still talk about it wherever I go. Technically, we are much improved now and want to take the movie to another level.”For Arjun, the challenge was not comparison but self-improvement. He explained that his aim was to push his own limits and raise the standard of his performance rather than measure himself against anyone else.

Carrying forward a legacy role in ‘Aankhen 2’

Speaking about returning to the franchise, Arjun acknowledged the responsibility that comes with revisiting the world of Aankhen. He shared, “I am trying to carry forward the role from the prequel and enhance it.

For that, I need to train hard.”Aankhen 2 is the sequel to the 2002 thriller Aankhen, which starred Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Sushmita Sen, and Arjun Rampal. The original film went on to become a cult favourite, and expectations from the sequel are naturally high.
