When Dharmendra opened up about his bond with Salman Khan, ‘He is an emotional man’

Dharmendra has always been admired for his warmth, humility, and the deep respect he commands in the film industry. The legendary actor often speaks straight from the heart, and his bond with co-stars remains rooted in sincerity and affection.

Many years ago, during the trailer launch of Yamla Pagla Deewana, when asked about his bond with Salman Khan, Dharmendra shared a nostalgic moment that beautifully revealed Salman’s true personality — far beyond the silver screen.

A heartfelt admiration

Dharmendra expressed pure fondness when speaking about Salman Khan. He praised Salman’s nature and goodwill, reflecting on the strong relationships that bind the film fraternity together. During the trailer launch of Yamla Pagla Deewana, he said, “Today, if I call anyone from the industry, everyone will be there because of my family’s goodwill.

Salman himself is a very good human being. I love him, he’s a wonderful person.

He’s genuine.”

The lake incident

Recalling one of their earliest interactions, Dharmendra shared a touching story that highlighted Salman’s courage and innocence.“Once I was shooting a film near a lake, and that was the first time I saw Salman. He was quite shy then — and even today, he is very shy. While shooting, the camera dropped into the lake and he dived in to take it out.

At that time, I thought, ‘He’s quite courageous too.’ He is an emotional man. If you aren’t a good person, you are nothing.”

Movies together

The two actors shared screen space in Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya (1998). Directed by Sohail Khan, the film starred Salman Khan as Suraj and Dharmendra as Thakur Ajay Singh, alongside Kajol, Arbaaz Khan, and Anjala Zaveri. They were also seen together in the song Rafta Rafta from Yamla Pagla Deewana.

On the work front

Dharmendra will next be seen in the much-anticipated film Ikkis, set to release in theatres on December 25, 2025. Meanwhile, Salman Khan is currently busy filming Battle of Galwan.
