On a dusty winter morning outside Rohtak, Haryana, a wedding procession was briefly held up in traffic. This time the cause wasn’t the usual clash of brass bands, which impede the flow of vehicles, and impatient commuters waiting to find their way around it.
It was a convoy of riders on Royal Enfield Bullets, their engines thumping like a ceremonial heartbeat. An elderly shopkeeper watching from his stoop muttered, half amused, half-resigned: “Jab Bullet chalegi, gali hil jayegi (When the Bullet roars, the street rumbles).”
