BENGALURU: Former Karnataka MLA and medical doctor Anjali Nimbalkar saved an American woman's life by performing CPR during a medical emergency on a Goa-New Delhi flight on Sunday.Nimbalkar, who serves as AICC secretary co-incharge of Goa, Daman & Diu, and Dadra Nagar Haveli, was traveling to attend the "Vote Chori" rally organized by Congress at Ramleela Maidan.The American passenger experienced uneasiness and shivering before fainting and losing her pulse during the flight. Nimbalkar immediately performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation to revive her.Throughout the flight, Nimbalkar stayed beside the patient, monitoring her condition and providing comfort.
The incident drew appreciation from both passengers and crew members.Upon landing in Delhi, the American passenger was transferred to a hospital by ambulance.Chief minister Siddaramaiah praised Nimbalkar's actions on social media platform X, stating: "Deeply moved and incredibly proud to hear about the remarkable presence of mind and compassion shown by former Khanapur MLA Dr Anjali Nimbalkar during a Goa–New Delhi flight.
When an American woman suffered a medical emergency mid-air, Dr Anjali instantly rose to the occasion and administered timely CPR, saving a precious life.

This selfless act reflects not just professional expertise, but a profound sense of humanity, service, and responsibility toward fellow beings."Siddaramaiah also noted: "Whether in power or not, leaders like Dr Anjali Nimbalkar stand as shining examples of true public service—always ready to help, without expecting anything in return. Such individuals set a powerful standard for society and remind us of the true meaning of leadership."In response to the chief minister's praise, Nimbalkar posted on X: "It (is) also my job and duty as a doctor to serve in this capacity whenever required.
