NEW DELHI: The State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) in Mohali, Punjab, has uncovered a terror-linked espionage network allegedly backed by Pakistan, officials confirmed. At the center of this network is Jasbir Singh, a resident of Mahlan village in Rupnagar district, who runs a YouTube channel called 'Jaan Mahal'.

Who is Jasbir Singh? Jasbir Singh is an Indian national accused of maintaining close ties with multiple Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) believed to be working under Pakistani handlers. According to the Punjab Police Director General of Police (DGP), Singh was in contact with Haryana-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, previously arrested for spying, and Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, a Pakistani national who was expelled from the Pakistani High Commission in India. Singh was reportedly invited by Danish to attend Pakistan National Day celebrations in Delhi, where he interacted with Pakistani Army officials and vloggers, raising serious security concerns. Authorities say Jasbir Singh traveled to Pakistan thrice — in 2020, 2021, and 2024.What was he doing? Seized electronic devices from Singh’s possession revealed contact numbers based in Pakistan, which are currently undergoing forensic analysis.
After Jyoti Malhotra’s arrest, Singh allegedly tried to erase all evidence of communication with the espionage network. However, investigators recovered critical data linking him to suspected terror-backed intelligence operatives. He was also connected to another key figure, Shakir alias Jutt Randhawa, a PIO believed to be a significant node within the terror-linked network.FIR Lodged An FIR has been registered at the SSOC in Mohali, and a comprehensive investigation is underway to determine the full scope of the espionage ring and to identify further collaborators. Punjab Police reiterated their commitment to national security. The DGP stated, “Punjab Police remains firmly committed to safeguarding national security and will not allow anti-national elements to thrive on our soil.”
