Kharge questions Trump's role in India-Pakistan ceasefire
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's silence on former US President Donald Trump's repeated claims of using trade to broker peace between India and Pakistan.
"The ceasefire announcement wasn’t made by our Foreign Minister or our Prime Minister; it was made by US President Donald Trump from Washington," he said.
"Even after Trump admitted 29 times that he brokered a ceasefire, why is India still not ready to accept it?" Kharge asked. "By the time I finish my speech, he might have admitted it for the 30th time," the Rajya Sabha MP quipped.
He further questioned India for its failure to prevent the Pahalgam attack during the debate on Operation Sindoor in the Rajya Sabha, while accusing the ruling party of spreading falsehoods and undermining national security achievements made under previous governments.
"Congress built weapons factories, you built lie factories," Kharge said, drawing a sharp contrast between the legacy of the UPA and NDA governments.
