A man in Maharashtra’s Buldhana district allegedly killed his four-year-old twin daughters by slitting their throats after a dispute with his wife.

The incident took place on October 21, when Rahul Chavan was travelling on a bike with his wife and two daughters. In the middle of the journey, Chavan had a fallout with his wife. As the argument escalated, his wife left mid-way and went to her parents’ house on foot. Chavan continued and reached Andhera village, where he took his daughters to a nearby forest and killed them by cutting their throats.

He later returned to his village after the murder.

Four days later, Chavan went to the local police station and confessed to killing his daughters. Police detained him and handed him over to the Andhera police station, as the forest comes under their jurisdiction.

After interrogating him, the Andhera Police sent its forensic team to the forest where the crime had been committed, and collected the body samples. They recovered the victims' bodies, which had already started decomposing, and sent them for post-mortem.

Chavan has been arrested, and the police have registered a case against him. Further investigation is going on.
