Wild elephant tramples man to death near Krishnagiri

KRISHNAGIRI: A wild elephant trampled a man to death near Denkanikottai in Krishnagiri district on Wednesday evening. The deceased has been identified as G Krishnan, 55, of Thavarakkarai."The elephant attacked Krishnan while he was herding his goats near the Thavarakkarai forest area. Krishnan died on spot," said a forest department officer in the Denkanikottai forest range.On learning about his death, villagers blocked Denkanikottai - Anchetty for more than two hours on Wednesday demanding that the forest department chase the elephant back into the forest. The protesters dispersed after police pacified them.
