Pune: A 35-year-old woman and her two children — a 17-year-old daughter and a 10-year-old son — were found dead in their rented accommodation in Tathawade on Monday. Investigations by the Pimpri Chinchwad police revealed that the trio — Kalpana Bipin Suryavanshi, her daughter Shubhashri, and son Dadu — allegedly died after consuming a poisonous substance.
The Wakad police registered an accidental death case on Tuesday.Wakad senior police inspector Ashok Kadlag said they were living in a rented flat in Tathawade while her sister resides in the same building. On Monday evening, when the family did not come out of their home, Suryavanshi’s sister went to check on them and found the door locked from the inside. After receiving no response, she alerted her husband. “They broke open the door and found the trio lying unconscious on the floor.
They were taken to a hospital, where doctors declared them dead,” Kadlag said. The officer said that, prima facie, the family appears to have died after consuming a poisonous substance. Their viscera have been preserved for chemical analysis following post-mortem examination. “The reason behind the suspected suicide is not yet known. The woman’s husband stays in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar,” the officer said.
