The Sardarnagar police registered a case on Wednesday under BNS section 103(1) (murder), 311 (robbery or dacoity) and 331(8)A (house-breaking after sunset and before sunrise) after her son, Hitesh Bajrang, filed the complaint.Hitesh stated that the murder took place after 11.30pm on Tuesday as she was seen in the market around that time by neighbours.

The family was alerted in the early hours on Wednesday when a worker associated with the house called to say that the 65-year-old was lying on the floor. The family members rushed to the residence and, finding the front door shut from inside, forced it open. According to the complaint, the family members found the woman lying on the floor near the bed. Her hands and legs were tied with cloth, and a pillow with bloodstains was seen near her head.

The room light was on, and the house appeared ransacked. A locker was found open and household items were scattered. They found that a gold chain and earrings, together weighing about 1.5 tolas and valued at around Rs 1.5 lakh, were missing. Hitesh also reported that approximately Rs 1 lakh in cash kept in the house was not found.
