Woman killed, eight injured in bus-lorry collision in Sri Sathya Sai district

A woman passenger, Suraksha (26), was killed and eight others injured, when a Bengaluru-Hyderabad private bus overturned after hitting a mini-lorry near Dhamajipalle in CK Palle mandal in Sri Sathya Sai district early on Tuesday.

According to the CK Palle police, the lorry, heading towards Dharmavaram, applied sudden brakes, causing the bus that was behind to crash into its rear and overturn. The deceased was travelling with her husband and three-month-old daughter.

Four of the injured are in serious condition and were shifted to the Government Hospital in Anantapur. Police have registered a case, and further investigation is on. The lorry responsible for the accident was seized and its driver taken into custody.
