A Chittoor district court on Tuesday (May 26, 2026) sentenced a woman to life imprisonment for murdering her two minor sons in 2017 to continue her extramarital relationship.
The IX Additional District Court convicted C. Pavitra (34), a resident of Kavvampalli village in Ramakuppam mandal of Kuppam assembly constituency, and imposed a life sentence along with a fine of ₹1,000. The court found her guilty of killing her sons, aged six and three respectively, on September 9, 2017.
The Ramakuppam police said that Pavitra was in an extramarital relationship with a tractor driver identified as Vemanna and decided to kill her children, thinking they could become an obstacle to their relationship. The police stated that she strangled both children using a nylon rope tied to a ceiling fan before fleeing the house.
The court, however, acquitted co-accused Vemanna due to a lack of sufficient evidence. Superintendent of Police Tushar Dudi commended the investigation team and welcomed the court verdict.
