Patna: A woman was brutally killed over allegations of practising witchcraft at Vanshgopal village under Puraini police station area in Madhepura district on Sunday.A group of people, harbouring a grudge against her, attacked her with knives while she went to tie her goats near her house at Vanshgopal village.
They stabbed her multiple times, killing her on the spot.The body was sent for the postmortem to the sadar hospital.The deceased was identified as Mehroon Khatun (60), wife of late Mohammad Rasool. She is survived by three sons and an equal number of daughters. Her elder son said, “While were sleeping inside the house, my mother went to tie the goats. There the assailants, accusing her of practising witchcraft, attacked her.
She was stabbed multiple times. By the time we arrived, she was dead, and the attackers had fled.”Puraini SHO, Raghwendra Narayan, said the police were informed about the death around 8am. The body, having multiple stab wounds, was sent for an autopsy to the sadar hospital.“Preliminary investigation revealed that about 10 days back there was an argument between Khatun and a neighbour Md Aslam’s father. Since then, the accused were allegedly harbouring a grudge and planning to attack her. No written complaint has been filed by the family yet. Further action will be taken based on the complaint,” the SHO said.
