Hundreds of women participated in a large-scale yoga session held at the historic Ramateertham temple on Thursday. The event was part of the district administration’s initiative to promote temple tourism by holding yoga camps at iconic locations.

The turnout of women surpassed that of men at the Ramateertham temple. The initiative was spearheaded by Joint Collector and nodal officer of Yogandhra-2025 Sedhu Madhavan, who had coordinated arrangements for mega yoga camps previously at Ramanarayanam temple, Chintapalli and other places.

Speaking to media, Mr. Madhavan emphasised that importance of physical fitness for women as they juggle multiple responsibilities in their daily lives. He said, “Practising simple yoga exercises daily will keep them fit and help overcome stress due to changes in lifestyle. The next mega camp is being organised at Thatipudi reservoir, another important tourist spot.”

Mr. Madhavan said that the district administration is planning to send 1 lakh yoga practitioners to RK Beach in Visakhapatnam on June 21 for the International Yoga Day celebrations.”
