The bodies of a woman and her three children were discovered floating in a pond on Wednesday in Karnataka’s Ballari. Police suspect suicide, but an investigation is ongoing to confirm the exact reason.

According to the police, the woman, identified as Siddavva from Hosur Champa village in Kolhapur district, Maharashtra, was part of a family engaged in cattle herding.

Siddavva and her three children reportedly went missing on Tuesday, leaving their cattle unattended. Their bodies were found near a farm pond, in Dammuru village, Kurugodu taluk, early Wednesday morning by villagers, who informed the police.

The reasons behind their deaths are yet to be determined. Police are currently considering suicide as a potential cause. Police stated that Siddavva had been married to Sanjay (32), a resident of Hosur village in Belagavi district, for nearly a decade. Kurugodu police have taken Sanjay into custody for questioning as investigations proceed.

In another incident, on January 26, four members of a family were found dead in their Bengaluru home. Police said the couple allegedly poisoned their two children before dying by suicide. The family, originally from Uttar Pradesh, had been living in RMV 2nd Stage.

In a similar incident, on February 17, a family of four was found dead in their apartment in Mysuru’s Visvesvaraya Nagar. The deceased included a man, his wife, their teenage son, and his elderly mother. Police suspected that the man had poisoned his family members before taking his own life.
