BJP national secretary and Assam in-charge Harish Dwivedi ata party event

Silchar: BJP national secretary and Assam in-charge Harish Dwivedi urged party workers in the Barak Valley to gear up for the 2026 state elections to win at least 10 to 11 of the 13 assembly seats in the region.Addressing a party meeting of the Silchar constituency unit at Gandhi Bhavan on Wednesday evening, Dwivedi said the Barak Valley has always guided the BJP in Assam and played a decisive role in strengthening the party’s base. “This time as well, we must ensure that the region contributes decisively to the BJP’s third consecutive term in power,” he added.Dwivedi, who is on a tour of Cachar to review the party’s organisational preparedness, outlined a detailed action plan for party functionaries at different levels.

He instructed district committees to hold at least one organisational meeting every month and asked Mandal Committees to convene a minimum of two meetings per month until the elections. Booth committees, he said, should hold at least four meetings a month to keep grassroots workers motivated and connected with voters.“Booth-level meetings must not be symbolic or short. Each session should last at least one-and-a-half to two hours, with clear agendas such as reviewing progress, setting new goals, and discussing outreach plans,” he said, adding that strength at the booth level would determine the party’s overall performance.

Dwivedi urged workers to focus on connecting with beneficiaries of central and state welfare schemes, helping the differently-abled and the sick, and maintaining ties with senior and veteran party members. “Every worker must be visible on the ground. Staying close to people and their concerns is the only way to convert public goodwill into votes,” he said. The senior leader urged party workers to continue these organisational efforts from this month through Feb next year. “If we work in this manner, the BJP will not only return to power but also strengthen its roots across Assam,” he said.
