Meghan Markle simply wants people to “tell the truth" about her. When asked in an interview how she would rewrite her public narrative if given the chance, she replied, “I would ask people to tell the truth."
Meghan appeared on Emma Grede’s podcast “Aspire with Emma Grede" in the 17 June episode, where the Duchess of Sussex also talked about her personal life. Notably, this is only her second podcast interview, besides the one with friend Jamie Kern Lima’s self-titled show back in April.
In Grede’s podcast, Meghan also talked about her viral “Baby Momma Dance" video, a clip posted on Instagram earlier this month on her daughter’s fourth birthday.
The video, which shows Meghan and Harry dancing in a hospital room to the viral song ‘The Baby Momma Dance’, quickly spread online.
During the podcast, Meghan also spoke about her aim to be more open online as she builds her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, People magazine reported. She echoed podcast host Grede’s belief that authenticity is key, saying, “You have to be authentic," before laughing and asking, “Did you see my ‘Baby Momma’ dance?"
The viral video shows Meghan and Harry dancing in a hospital room. Meghan posted the clip on 4 June to celebrate Lilibet’s fourth birthday, along with a caption that read: “Both of our children were a week past their due dates… so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn’t work – there was only one thing left to do!" She mentioned that the video was filmed exactly four years ago.
Meghan Markle Shares Advice from Serena Williams
Meghan told Grede that she has done “a lot of self work," acknowledging the ups and downs of living under constant public scrutiny. “There are peaks and valleys" to being in the spotlight, she said, adding: “You go, ‘What’s the why?’ It’s happening for a reason."
She also shared a powerful piece of advice given to her by longtime friend and tennis star Serena Williams: “A lie can’t live forever," Meghan recalled.
