Those willing to spend big this festive season could reportedly buy themselves an unusually exclusive Christmas treat: dinner with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. According to Mail Online, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to have offered themselves as dinner guests as part of a high-end fundraiser for their Archewell Foundation.
The couple allegedly partnered with charity auction platform CharityBuzz, with bids believed to be around US$100,000 (£75,000), although the offer was not publicly listed on the site.Archewell was set up after Harry and Meghan moved to the US and stepped back from their roles as senior working royals. More recently, the foundation has focused on creating support networks for parents whose children have been harmed by social media.CharityBuzz, which has been operating for around two decades, has raised more than US$650 million (£485 million) for charitable causes. The platform has previously auctioned experiences involving celebrities such as George Clooney, Beyoncé and Sir Paul McCartney. Current listings include dinner with Better Call Saul star Bob Odenkirk for US$10,000 (£7,500) and platinum Grammy Awards tickets priced at US$50,000 (£37,000).
As reported by Mail Online, the Sussexes’ dinner experience does not appear on CharityBuzz’s public listings, suggesting it may have been offered privately to wealthy repeat donors. Speaking about the appeal of such encounters, one source said: “People will pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to have dinner with them.”On December 18, a spokesperson for Archewell confirmed to the Mail that: “We have partnered with numerous fundraising partners over the years and CharityBuzz has been one of them.”Such an arrangement would not have been possible when Harry and Meghan were still working royals. The report draws parallels with a controversy involving Sarah Ferguson in 2010, when she was secretly recorded offering access to her former husband, Prince Andrew, for £500,000. In footage obtained by the News of the World, Ferguson told an undercover reporter: “That opens up everything you would ever wish for. I can open any door you want, and I will for you.
Look after me and he’ll look after you… You’ll get it back tenfold.”The fundraising report comes as Prince Harry was photographed taking part in the World Snow Polo Championships in Aspen, Colorado. He was seen playing alongside close friend Nacho Figueras, dressed in a blue pullover, white trousers and a black helmet, riding a brown horse against the snowy mountain backdrop. The trip appears to be a boys’ outing, with Meghan believed to be staying home in Montecito with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Reacting to photos from the match, Meghan shared a snap of Harry on horseback on social media, writing: “Oh, hello there
