A young man was reportedly found drowned in a swimming pool at the residence of a former MP at Reddypalem village in Guntur Rural mandal. A suspicious death case was registered at Nallapadu police station following the incident. According to police, the deceased was identified as Polepogu Harsha Vardhan, who worked as a swimming pool cleaner.
The incident occurred when Harsha Vardhan went to clean the swimming pool at the residence of former MP Modugula Venugopala Reddy. For reasons yet to be fully ascertained, he accidentally fell into the pool and drowned. He was immediately shifted to the Government General Hospital (GGH), Guntur, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Based on a complaint lodged by his mother, Polepogu Madhavi of Swarnabharathi Nagar, police registered a case under suspicious death provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS) and took up investigation.
Guntur Superintendent of Police (SP) Vakul Jindal said CCTV footage from the premises was examined and it showed Harsha Vardhan falling into the pool and drowning as he was unable to swim. When the incident occurred, he was only the person seen in the visuals. Further clarity on the cause of death will emerge after the medical report, he added.
