Youth dies after falling off vehicle near Erode

ERODE: A 20-year-old youth died after falling off a minitruck near Bhavanisagar in Erode district in the early hours of Monday. The incident happened while he was returning home after immersing a Ganesh idol in the Bhavani river.The deceased has been identified as S Sanjay, 20, of Puliampatty. He was a salesman in a textile shop.On Sunday evening, he travelled to Bhavanisagar with fellow villagers to immerse a Ganesh idol -- which was installed in their area as part of the Vinayagar Chaturthi celebrations -- in the Bhavani river.After immersing the idol, Sanjay and others were returning to their village around 12.30am. "Sanjay, who was sitting on the back of minitruck, lost his grip and fell off the vehicle when it neared the vegetable market area in Bhavanisagar town," said an officer at the Bhavanisagar police station. Sanjay, who suffered a head injury, was rushed to Government Hospital in Sathyamangalam where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.The Bhavanisagar police registered a case.
