Former Minister Ambati Rambabu on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, accusing it of suppressing media freedom through false cases and attempting to divert attention from the recurring floods in Amaravati.

“Is it not a fact that Amaravati was submerged after the rains? Did the capital not turn into a virtual sea?” he asked, recalling Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s own admission that water from Kondaveeti Vaagu had to be pumped into the Krishna river. Mr. Rambabu said he personally witnessed several villages in the capital region being inundated. “If TDP leaders have the courage, let them come—I will show them the floodwaters. Pumping out water only proves Amaravati’s vulnerability,” he asserted.

He reminded that in 2024, key infrastructure such as the High Court road, Seed Access Road, iconic towers, officials’ colonies, and TIDCO houses were all submerged. “This year again, Amaravati is underwater. Instead of addressing the failures, the government is targeting media outlets for reporting the truth,” he alleged.

On the land pooling issue, Mr. Rambabu accused Mr. Naidu of betraying farmers. “Farmers willingly gave 53,000 acres in the hope of development. To this day, that land remains barren. Why is the government demanding another 43,000 acres? Is this justice?” he asked.
