Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP and former cricketer Yusuf Pathan posted a series of photos of his visit to an ancient mosque in Malda on Thursday, triggering a political storm in West Bengal.
Pathan visited the Adina Mosque on October 16, praising the architecture and historic value of the construction in a post on X.
“The Adina Mosque in Malda, West Bengal, is a historic mosque built in the 14th century by Sultan Sikandar Shah, the second ruler of the Ilyas Shahi dynasty. Constructed in 1373-1375 CE, it was the largest mosque in the Indian subcontinent during its time, showcasing the region’s architectural grandeur,” he wrote on X, along with photos of him visiting the mosque.

However, West Bengal BJP responded to the Trinamool Congress MP’s social media post, calling the mosque ‘Adinath Temple’.
