Ten persons were apprehended by the Regional Narcotics Control Cell sleuths (RNCC) under EAGLE Force in coordinated operations across Karimnagar and Nizamabad for consumption of ganja on Thursday (April 2).
According to an officer, a 17-year-old boy was apprehended under Chennur Town police station limits in Ramagundam during a raid while consuming ganja.
Meanwhile, six persons were held under the Kothapally police station limits in Karimnagar, identified as 24-year-old Durgam Vijay Kumar alias Vijju, 33-year-old Mohammad Munna, 33-year-old Manupati Eshwar, 21-year-old Mesala Abhilash, 24-year-old Dontha Yashwanth Raj, and 21-year-old Sheik Rizwan.
Three others apprehended under the Nizamabad Rural station police limits in Nizamabad were identified as 25-year-old Dammagoni Ranjith, 22-year-old Nethula Akhil, and 20-year-old Bonchetty Ajay.
All the individuals tested positive for Tetra Hydro Cannabinol (THC), a psychoactive component of ganja, and were handed over to respective police stations for further action. Officials said cases would be booked under provisions that facilitate their admission into deaddiction centres as part of the rehabilitation measures.
Authorities said that the action was part of ongoing efforts to curb substance abuse and urged the public to report information on drug related activity through toll free number 1908 or the official portal of EAGLE.
