Ten persons including the bus crew were injured after a Tamil Nadu Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus collided with a SUV on Kilpennathur Bypass Road near Tiruvannamalai town on Friday.

Police said that along with around 40 commuters, bus driver K. Thanigaivel, 52 was driving the bus from Chennai to Tiruvannamalai town on the stretch when a SUV hit the bus after a two-wheeler rider, K. Pugazhendi, 19, suddenly crossed the stretch. The accident occurred around 12.30 p.m.

In the impact, two-wheeler rider, bus crew, SUV driver and a few passengers sustained injuries. Immediately, other motorists and passerby rescued injured persons and admitted them at Government Medical College Hospital in Tiruvannamalai town where doctors said the condition of injured persons are stable. A case was registered by Kilpennathur police. Traffic was affected on the route for over an hour before police restored normalcy on the route. A probe is underway.
