Kerala BJP President Rajeev Chandrasekhar addresses a press conference after the State leadership camp of the NDA in Kochi on Monday.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Kerala president Rajeev Chandrasekhar has blamed the Left front government for its alleged failure to ensure the development of the State during the last 10 years of its rule.

He was speaking at the State leadership camp of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) here on Monday (February 16, 2025). Mr. Chandrasekhar said that the Left government was blaming the Union government for its inability to bring development to the State. The Left Front was trying to hoodwink the public by raising such an allegation ahead of the Assembly elections, he was quoted as saying in a release.

He alleged that the project to set up an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) failed to become a reality in the State as the government did not acquire the land in Kozhikode, which had been shortlisted along with Madurai in 2017. While land has been identified in Madurai, the Kerala government has not yet completed the process in Kozhikode, he said.

He accused Devaswom Minister V.N. Vasavan of failing to protect the Sabarimala temple while referring to the gold theft case. He reiterated the demand for a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation into the case, as its trail extended across multiple States.

Thushar Vellappally, convener of the NDA’s Kerala unit, presided.
