Construction of a 100‑MW solar power project in Annamayya district is moving toward early completion, with 80% of the work already completed, district Collector Nishant Kumar said on Monday (April 6, 2026) after reviewing the progress. He urged officials to complete the remaining work without delay.
Speaking to the media, the Collector said that the ₹500 crore project is being developed over nearly 500 acres by HPCL Renewable and Green Energy Limited. “As per the information from the officials, the remaining works are likely to be completed in four to five months,” he said.
He said that during the inspections, the installation of solar panels, transmission lines, and grid connectivity was thoroughly checked. The engineers and officials were reminded about the timelines, technical standards, and delays.
The Collector said that due to minor land issues in a few stretches, work had been slowed for a while. “The officials are expected to submit a report on this issue, and the administration will promptly resolve it,” he said.
“Once the Solar project is grounded, it will greatly improve power supply in the drought-prone Rayalaseema region, which usually faces heavy demand during summer. This project will further boost employment generation in Annamayya district,” Mr. Nishant Kumar said.
Officials from the APSPDCL, Revenue, Police, and Water Resources departments attended the review meeting.
