A young man was chased and brutally attacked in broad daylight by three masked assailants in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur, with a video of the incident showing the attackers striking him at least 14 times within 7-8 seconds.
According to police, the victim, Gaurav, an electrician at the railway yard, was intercepted and attacked on his way home after duty on February 11. The three men were allegedly waiting for him and began assaulting him as soon as they caught up with him on the road.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras, and the footage has since gone viral on social media.
The video shows the masked men launching a sudden assault, catching Gaurav off guard and knocking him to the ground. Within a few seconds, they repeatedly attacked him before fleeing the spot.
In the footage, the victim is seen walking normally when the three masked individuals approach him from behind and the side and begin assaulting him. After a brief but intense attack lasting only a few seconds, the accused can be seen running away from the scene.
Following the incident and the victim's complaint, police officials examined CCTV footage from the area. However, the identity of the attackers and their motive have not yet been ascertained.
Senior police officer Vyom Bindal, speaking to India Today over the phone, said that an investigation is underway based on the written complaint. He added that efforts are being made to identify the accused with the help of CCTV footage, and appropriate action will be taken accordingly.
The viral video of the incident has sparked concern in the locality, with residents expressing shock over the brazen daylight attack.
