While the State government is yet to officially announce the inauguration date, a senior health official told The Hindu that the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) at Sanathnagar is tentatively scheduled to be inaugurated on June 11 by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
As part of the programme, the government is also expected to lay the foundation stone for a 100-seat super-speciality postgraduate hostel at TIMS Sanathnagar. Appointment orders will be distributed to 572 healthcare personnel, including 300 assistant professors and 272 staff nurses. The government is also scheduled to launch 145 polyclinics in the CURE region as part of its efforts to strengthen access to healthcare services.
In addition to TIMS Sanathnagar, the government is expected to inaugurate a super-speciality hospital at Patancheru, critical care blocks at Bhadradri Kothagudem, Medak and Narayanpet, a Community Health Centre at Kollapur, and a Central Medical Store at Bhuvanagiri.
Ahead of the inauguration, Telangana Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha on Saturday (June 6), conducted an inspection of TIMS Sanathnagar and reviewed the hospital’s preparedness.
The Minister undertook a field-level assessment of Blocks A, B and C of the hospital and inspected key departments, including the outpatient registration area, inpatient wards, emergency department, intensive care units, operation theatres, CT scan and MRI sections, diagnostic laboratories, blood bank, mechanised laundry, centralised kitchen, pharmacy and other support services.
